On July 3, 2025, LABCOM LIRYS (Project ANR-23-LCV2-0005 – Imerys / IRCER) was inaugurated during the Ceramic Network business convention in Limoges.
At this event, the composition of the leadership team for this joint laboratory was announced:
• Director: Simon Goutier from IRCER (Institut de Recherche sur les Céramiques)
• Deputy Director: Laurent Joly-Vuillemin from Imerys (ITC Lyon)
The event featured distinguished speakers:
• Chris Parr, Innovation Director at Imerys
• Catherine Grandhomme in charge of relations with industrial partner at CNRS
• Vincent Jolivet, President of the University of Limoges
LABCOM LIRYS, located within IRCER, will focus on developing advanced thermal spray technology for the thermal coating of gas turbines using hydrogen. LABCOM will benefit from the joined expertise between IRCER and Imerys on thermal spray and powder development. This research is funded by the French National Research Agency.
The collaboration between IRCER and Imerys, as evidenced by the lab’s leadership, promises to bridge academic expertise with industrial application. We’re excited about the potential breakthroughs that will emerge from LABCOM LIRYS.
Special thanks to Alexandra BEAUDROUET and Florine BOULLE from the European Cluster of Ceramics for hosting us, and to all participants of the Ceramic Network. Here’s to a future of innovation in ceramics and sustainable energy technology!
